About the ACT
Junior Rugby Union
What does the ACT Junior Rugby Union do?
The ACT Junior Rugby Union strives to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the development and promotion of Junior Rugby as well as affording Players an opportunity to value the game, develop their skills and achieve representative honours. The ACTJRU and Brumbies Rugby are committed to promoting and strengthening a positive image of Rugby and its participants in Canberra and its surrounds.
What is the Code of Conduct?
In light of this commitment, the Rugby Australia’s, (RugbyAU) Code of Conduct, supported by our ‘Expectations of Behaviour’ Guide, seeks to establish standards of performance and behaviour to ensure that all participants in the game, Players, Coaching Staff, Club and School Administrators, Parents, Supporters and the like, act in a professional, proper and appropriate manner to ensure that the game is played and conducted with disciplined and sporting behaviour.
What are my responsibilities under the Code?
Everyone involved in Rugby is bound by the Code of Conduct and should not abuse, threaten or intimidate a Referee, an Assistant Referee, (Touch Judge), Coaching Staff or other Team or Match Officials, whether on or off the field. They should not do anything which is likely to intimidate, offend, insult or humiliate another participant on the grounds of their religion, sexual orientation, disability, race, colour or national or ethnic origin. The ACTJRU has in place effective sanctions for those found to have breached the Code of Conduct.
What did I agree to?
By completing the RugbyAU Player Registration for your child, you have agreed to abide by Rugby’s Code of Conduct and to ensure we have a safe, fair and fun environment for all. It is very important that everyone involved in Rugby is aware of their responsibilities under the Code of Conduct and the respect owed to each other, particularly the important and valuable role our volunteers provide.
