Match Day Protocols

Match Day Program:  There will be no Match Day Program for the Championships & Grand Finals.  All match information and Team Sheets can be found on the Rugby Xplorer Match Day App.

 

Venue:  The venue is limited to Viking Park Main Oval and No. 2 field and internal vehicle parking.  There will be NO vehicle (car) traffic or parking between the top car park adjacent to McBryde Crescent and the bottom car park adjacent to Amsinck Street.

 

Venue Entry:  Pedestrian and vehicle entry will be via the gates at the:

  1. Top car park adjacent to McBryde Crescent;
  2. Bottom car park adjacent to Amsinck Street and a gate
  3. On the eastern side of the main oval from the Vikings Club building.

 

 

Venue Exclusion Areas:  There will be NO vehicle (car) traffic between the top car park adjacent to McBryde Crescent  and the bottom car park adjacent to Amsinck Street.

 

Playing Area Exclusions:  Only coaching staff, players, replacements, first aiders, physios, sports trainers, water carriers and ball persons are allowed on the inside of the fence on Field 1 and within the technical zone.  For Field 2, only players and ball persons are allowed inside the roped off area.

 

Ground Marshals: The ACTJRU will provide at least three Ground Marshals identified in Yellow Vizy vests marked ‘Ground Marshal’.  Ground Marshals deputise for the ACTJRU Secretary and is responsible for the venue, the Draw, as provided by the ACTJRU Secretary, and has overall control at the event for the matches played therein.

 

Field (Team) Marshals: All teams are to provide a Field (Team) Marshal identified in Orange Vizy vest marked ‘Field (or Team) Marshal’).  The Field (Team) Marshal oversees the technical zones for coaching staff, replacements, first aiders, physios, sports trainers, water carriers and ball persons and the like and any other person on the sideline, inside and outside the roped off playing enclosure, that is the field of play.  They are to report to the official table on half way for instructions prior to the match kick-off.  This person must be a responsible person, aware of their role and requirements and is not to be the Coach, Asst. Coach, Manager and or First Aider. They are to remain outside of the playing area and manage the team’s support staff and crowd behaviour.

 

Only the Coach, Assistant Coach, Manager, Sports First Aid, Water Persons and Reserves are allowed in the team enclosure / area as designated.  All persons must remain in this area.

 

Change Rooms:  A Schedule for Change Rooms will be published and circulated. A copy will be also posted in the Change Rooms. No gear should be left in the Change Rooms and all Change Rooms MUST be left clean and tidy for the next team.  Please be advised, there is a limit of Change Rooms so this Schedule will be tight on times.  Please ensure your team leaves the Change Rooms on the designated time. A responsible person from each team using the Change Room will have to sign-off its condition on entry and again on exiting, noting any damage.

 

Match Timeframes:

With 23 Grand Finals and Championship matches, we need to run to a strict timeframe. Teams must be ready to take the field of play 5 minutes prior to their scheduled kick-off.   The toss should have been completed prior to kick-off.  Time will start at the scheduled kick off time regardless of whether teams are ready or the Referee blows time.  No team huddle prior to kick-offs, Players are to shake hands and move to positions immediately.  There will be NO on field ‘war cries’ after the match.

 

Match Times:    All matches times will be as per the Grand Final Schedule match times.  There is NO injury or extra time.  If in the event the match is a Draw at full time, Teams will be named Joint Premiers.

 

Players Playing Down an Age Grade:

Under the “Age Grade Dispensation Down” A team’s management must adhere to conditions and restrictions of the ACTJRU “Age Grade Dispensation Down” Program for Participation Pilot for players approved to play down an age grade.  The policy states under the Policy and Guidelines under Dispensation Considerations;

  1. Only two (2) players dispensated down an age grade can be on the field, competing in a match at the same time.

Substitution Interchange (Reserves):  All teams are required to have Interchange Cards (Numbered 1 to 12) for Under 15’s and above.  Under 15’s and above, excluding ‘Girls’ matches, are limited to 12 substitutions.  All substitution interchanges MUST go through the Assistant Referee.  Under 10’s to Under 14’s, inclusive and ‘Girls’ matches have unlimited substitutions.

 

Ball Persons:  All teams to provide two. These are under the control and management of the Field (Team) Marshals.

 

Water Persons:  They may only enter the field of play when time off is blown due to an injury and or a try is scored.  Water persons may NOT enter the field of play during a penalty attempt or general play and are NOT first responders to injuries.  All teams to have NO more than two Water Persons.  Water runners are under the control and management of the Field (Team) Marshals.

 

Sports First Aid:  Medical Staff must by a medical professional or SMA trained and a current member of a medical association for insurance purposes.  Medical Staff are not permitted to be inside the playing enclosure and or walk up and down the side line unless attending to an injury when time is called.  ACTJRU will have a Doctor in attendance and two certified Sports First Aiders in attendance, one per field.  Unless advised otherwise by the Ground Marshal prior to the commencement of the match, only accredited Sports First Aiders are to be the first responder.  First Aid is provided for a response to on-field injuries only.  NO other First Aid person will be allowed in the technical zone or on the field of play unless approved by the Ground Marshal prior to the commencement of the match.  If players require strapping, that is your team/club responsibility.

 

Post Match Presentations:  At the conclusion of each match, teams must immediately vacate the field of play and their team area within the technical zone.  Both teams should immediately move to the side line, clap each other off then vacate the team areas to allow the next teams to move in.  The next match will commence immediately following.  Both teams need to move to the presentation area as soon as practicable. The presentation area for all matches will be at the northern area in the grassed section at the end of the Grandstand.
